Description

The Vector Bag offers shielding that does not compromise accessibility. The bag features a discrete vector pocket that allows users to operate touch screens while devices are inside of the bag. A flexible, transparent window made of Thermoplastic polyurethane resists abrasion and allows users to check a device’s signal cutoff and battery life without removing the device.

The XL bag is large enough to protect laptop computers or multiple smaller devices at once for secure travel. As with all other EDEC bags, quad-layer Faraday construction provides advanced shielding for the wide range of wireless devices that may be stored inside.

Attenuation Testing | Security Ensured

FM Broadcast

FM radio operates in the 88–108 MHz range, typically broadcasting signals that typically measure under 1 µV/m at typical tower offset distances. Effective shielding requires attenuation levels of at least 60 dB to block these signals- orders of magnitude lower than OffGrid's shielding in this range.

LTE Bands

LTE networks operate from around 700 MHz up to 2.7 GHz, varying by carrier and region. Lower bands (700–900 MHz) offer better coverage, while higher bands (1.7–2.7 GHz) provide higher speeds. Effective shielding requires at least 60 dB attenuation.

5G Cell Bands

5G spans 600 MHz to 4.2 GHz for mid-band coverage and 24–40 GHz for mmWave. Shielding requires on average 60 dB attenuation for isolation, but at the higher band much less and is line of sight.

WiFi and Bluetooth

Wi-Fi operates at 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz, while Bluetooth shares the 2.4 GHz band. Both enable short-range wireless connectivity, and effective shielding requires around 80 dB attenuation to block signals and maintain privacy.

GPS and GNSS

GPS/GNSS signals typically use the L1 band at 1575.42 MHz and may include other bands like L2 and L5. These low-power signals are line of sight and easily shielded with 60 dB attenuation to prevent location tracking and interference.

NFC Band

Near Field Communication (NFC) operates at 13.56 MHz for short-range communication. These low-frequency signals are easily shielded with low levels of attenuation, effectively blocking data transfer and protecting devices from unauthorized contactless communication.

EMP

Electromagnetic pulses (EMPs) span from kHz to GHz frequencies, with rapid, high-energy bursts that can damage electronics. OffGrid bags’ MIL-STD-188-125-2 compliance ensures effective shielding, providing protection against EMP-induced failures by attenuating high-frequency energy and preventing critical disruptions.

FAQs Answered

Our engineers and security pros share their insights on keeping your devices safe from all threats, big and small.

How do Faraday bags block signals?

Faraday bags block signals using a multi-layered, conductive shield that surrounds your device and absorbs or reflects electromagnetic waves. This creates a two way sealed barrier for electromagnetic energy that prevents external RF signals (such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cellular, and GPS) from reaching your device, ensuring your data and privacy remain secure.

 What is MIL-STD-188-125-2 compliance?

It’s a military standard that ensures protection against high-level electromagnetic pulses (EMPs). OffGrid bags meet this standard, providing top-tier shielding against even the harshest conditions.

Do Faraday bags protect against EMPs?

Yes. Our bags are designed to block electromagnetic pulses, safeguarding your devices from sudden, high-energy bursts that could otherwise damage or disable electronics.

How do I know my bag is working?

A quick and easy way to test your bag is by playing music through Bluetooth headphones and placing your phone in the bag. The music should cut out immediately. You can also use the RF Tester Pro app available on iOS and Android.

How long does a Faraday bag last?

With proper use and care, a high-quality Faraday bag can last for years, maintaining its shielding effectiveness through everyday wear and tear. At OffGrid, we've put a ton of effort into creating the longest lasting bag by improving out material stack and adding non-abrasive layers which reduce material wear. We stand by our product with a no questions asked 1 year warranty. If you ever have any issues with your purchase, contact us and we'll take care of you.

Will my device still work while in the bag?

It won't work for communication, but non connected function (i.e. alarms, downloaded media, offline apps, ect) will work so long as your phone is powered on. Your bag blocks all signals, so your device won’t receive calls, texts, or notifications until removed from the bag.
